Let's talk about genres for a minute. Most people have specific genres they prefer to read or listen to for those who like audio books and podcasts.
There are so many genres out there, I favor fantasy romance and thrillers for my books, as for movies I have a few more genres, but we are going to stick to books for the moment. Even in the genre of romance there are several sub genres, fantasy being only one of them. It is pretty much the same for the thriller genre, multiple sub genres.
I am going to talk about the fantasy romance genre. I enjoy writing this genre because there is so much you can do with it, and who doesn't like to escape into a little bit of romance no and then? I enjoy creating my protagonists and making them someone you either really love or really love to hate. In a romance there has to be some sort of protagonist or it is just to much sap. With the protagonist along for the ride there is more to create with and sometimes as the author I am the protagonist by leading you one way then turning at the last second. Nothing is ever a straight line and that is one of the best things about writing no matter what it is you are writing
When I'm writing the thrillers I guess I do a little cross between mystery and suspense. I love to keep the reader guessing. I am also very determined to make sure you never see the ending coming. To me if you can figure out the ending before you get there, it's not much of a thriller. In these I enjoying putting little easter eggs here and there to see if the reader picks up on them or once they get to the end it makes them go, "Ooh, now I see." I love aha moments no matter where they show up.
No matter what genre you enjoy tell me what you like best about the books you have read in those genres. Leave a comment, follow, like, and by all means share with your friends.
Happy reading all!!!
